BC Housing’s COVID-19 Response: Additional Safe Spaces for Women and Children Leaving Violence

For many women and children living in unstable or violent situations, home is not a safe place. Transition housing provides safety and support, but during the COVID-19 pandemic, many providers had to reduce their capacity to enable physical distancing and help keep residents safe from COVID-19. In response, BC Housing leased additional safe spaces in hotels and motels across the province.   Our audit examined BC Housing’s effectiveness when it provided additional safe spaces for women and children leaving violence during COVID-19. 

Community Living BC’s Framework for Monitoring Home Sharing Providers

This audit examined whether Community Living BC (CLBC) had implemented a monitoring framework to ensure home sharing providers met the following contract requirements in 2018–19: aligning service delivery to further quality-of-life outcomes for people in care  complying with contracted standards and service requirements

An Audit of BC Housing's Non-Profit Asset Transfer Program

In 2013, the Ministry of Natural Gas Development and Responsible for Housing established the Non-Profit Asset Transfer (NPAT) program as part of its Housing Matters BC Strategy update. The program involves the transfer of select provincially-owned land and building assets to the non-profit housing sector. This report looks at whether: The Ministry Responsible for Housing has demonstrated that the potential benefits of the NPAT program outweigh its costs and risks. The BC Housing Management Commission has managed implementation of the NPAT program to achieve program objectives.

Follow-up on the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry

This report looks at how the B.C. government has responded to selected recommendations made by the 2012 Missing Women Commission of Inquiry. We examined government's response to each selected recommendation, including their commitments, actions, planned actions, and whether government can demonstrate that they have addressed the intent of the recommendation.

Disability Assistance: An Audit of Program Access, Integrity and Results

May 2014
The audit looked at the accessibility of the disability assistance program, the accuracy and timeliness of eligibility decisions, and whether the program contributes to improved outcomes for clients. This report was discussed by the Legislative Assembly's Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts on October 1, 2014.

This follow-up report contains the self-assessed progress of ministries and organizations in implementing the recommendations from recent reports. It also contains the results of the Office's two first examinations of self-assessed progress. This report was discussed by the Legislative Assembly's Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts on February 4, 2015 and June 3, 2015.
