Wayne Schmitz

Wayne Schmitz is the Executive Director in the office’s Sustainability and Environment Audit Portfolio.  Wayne has a Bachelor of Administration and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1979.

He joined the Office of the Auditor General in 1980 after several years of experience with a national accounting firm, the Provincial Auditor of Saskatchewan and industry. Initially, he focused on financial statement auditing, but in 1990, became involved primarily with performance audits. Since then he has led performance audits in many areas, including natural resources, environment, and social services. He is currently responsible for performance audits focusing on sustainability and environment.

In addition to his professional activities, Wayne has been active in the local community and has served as a Director and President of the Victoria Chartered Accountants Association.
