Russ Jones

Russ Jones is the Assistant Auditor General, Financial Audit, responsible for gaming issues and for the office’s yearly review of the 2010 Olympic financial status, in addition to his shared responsibility for the Financial Audit Portfolio. Russ is responsible for financial audits in the Health, Natural Resources, and Transportation sectors. He has specialized in financial accounting and reporting and auditing in the public sector for over 27 years.
 

During that time he has been involved in the audit of the financial statements of government and its many organizations, as well as providing advice to ministries and crown corporations on a wide range of accounting and financial management control issues. He has also led a number of performance audits in many areas, including, natural resources, transportation, aboriginal relations and economic development.
 

Russ is responsible for overseeing the office’s financial budgeting and operations, and is the Chief Financial Officer of the office.
 

Russ is a Chartered Accountant. He also has a Master of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University. In addition to his work with the office, his professional experience includes facilitating for the CA School of Business and 5 years with a national firm of chartered accountants prior to joining the office in 1980. He was also comptroller for two locally owned Victoria companies from 1986 to 1989.
