Ed Ryan leads our Compliance, Controls and Research group. This group contributes to the office's work by researching, developing, coordinating and delivering focused audits of financial management controls and compliance with legislation.
Before joining us in 2017, Ed held several senior positions in the Alberta public service, including Assistant Auditor General, Assistant Deputy Minister (Service Alberta) and Senior Advisor (Internal Audit Services). Prior to joining the Alberta public service, he was a forensic accountant with an international accounting firm, and also with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, focusing primarily on commercial crimes. He has completed numerous international consulting and speaking engagements in the Caribbean, Vietnam, Mexico, Tanzania and Bhutan.
Ed is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He holds a Master of Forensic Accounting (MFAcc) from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta.
