Bill Gilhooly
Bill Gilhooly is the Assistant Auditor General with overall responsibility for the Office’s largest audit, the Province’s Summary Financial Statements. Bill is also responsible for financial audits in the Finance and Education sectors, including the Ministries of Finance, Citizen’s Services, Education, Advanced Education, as well as the BC Securities Commission, WorkSafeBC and a number of financial audits in the K-12 and post secondary education sectors.
He is also responsible for producing a number of Office public reports, including the Financial Statement Coverage Plan, an annual status report on government’s financial reporting, and various reports on financial management and control, information technology, and governance.
Bill is responsible for overseeing the IT audit function in the Office, which conducts audits of significant government systems and environments and provides support to other audit teams. Bill is also the Office’s Chief Information Officer.
He also has considerable IT and project management experience, having held management positions in several ministries. Since first joining the Office in 1987, he has held a variety of operational and administrative roles including Senior Principal responsible for the Protection of Persons and Property portfolio and Senior Financial Officer for the Office, and has worked on a wide range of performance and financial audits.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Victoria, a diploma in Business Administration from Camosun College and is a Chartered Accountant.
