Beverly Romeo-Beehler
Beverly is the Assistant Auditor General responsible for coordinating Legal Services and Innovation. For the past few years, Beverly led the Professional Practices group, Legal Services, Finance and Human Resources. Beverly is a lawyer, and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada. In addition, she holds a Juris Doctor, a Certified Management Accountant designation and a Bachelor of Business Administration.
In addition to a financial and performance audit background, Beverly brings to the office a significant amount of valuable experience gained by working in several high-profile independent oversight offices, including: the Office of the Auditor General for Canada, the Ombudsman's Office for National Defence and the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP.
In British Columbia Beverly led the oversight of the billing of all medical practitioners in British Columbia where she used mediation, negotiation and court hearings to recover overbillings. She also led the Provincial Sales Tax Interpretation and Rulings function and was responsible for the Contract Management oversight of the largest outsourcing contract in British Columbia.
Beverly is the recipient of several Provincial Awards, including: a Premier’s Award for Organizational Transformation, a second Premier’s Award for Service Excellence and ministry leadership awards. She was a Special Advisor to the Merit Commissioner of British Columbia for three years, and serves on national and international audit methodology committees. With her leadership, the Office of the Auditor General received an "A" rating for quality files from the Institute of Chartered Accountants for British Columbia.
