Permanent, Full Time Regular Position
Salary Range: $73,400 - $101,900
annually plus benefits (valued at approx. 25%)

It is anticipated that the starting salary will be approximately $81,500

An eligible list may be established to fill future similar vacancies within the OAG. Candidates who do not meet all the specific qualifications may be appointed to lower classification.

The Office of the Auditor General of British Columbia is currently seeking applicants for the regular full time position of Manager, Performance Audit.  As an independent office of the Legislature, the office reports on the economy, efficiency and effectiveness of public sector programs. The performance audits and other projects cover all government sectors including health, education, social services, justice, transportation and natural resource management.  They may focus on issues of governance, financial management, information technology, contract management, and program effectiveness both within these sectors as well as across the provincial government. CPA Canada assurance standards guide how performance audits are conducted.

The Manager, Performance Audit works under the direction of a portfolio Director or Deputy Auditor General and contributes significantly to the Office’s operations. The Manager is directly involved with fulfilling the requirements of the Auditor General Act. The position is responsible for managing resources and meeting program deliverables within budget and time allotments. This position is a leadership position in the office and can lead to greater opportunities.

Located in downtown Victoria, the office has a strong mandate through the Auditor General Act to promote effective and accountable government. Applicants must have:

  • A post-graduate degree or evidence of continuous learning relevant to a specialist credential in a relevant field such as for example a Professional Accounting or other designation, Law Degree, Professional Engineer, or equivalent

AND

  • A minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience conducting audits and /or assessments of an organization’s performance, including responsibility for managing, planning, conducting and reporting on audit/assessment projects

Work experience in an independent audit office, and private or public manager-level experience in an audit environment, and familiarity with CPA Canada assurance standards are preferred but not essential.
